New railway carriages to arrive next month

Boom in IT literacy rate

Aug 1 (SAMN) ICTA Consultant J.K Perera said the country’s IT literacy rate is between 15 percent to 20 percent. ICTA is targeting to increase this amount to 60 percent. Earlier only the Western Province contributed to the country’s IT literacy level. But there is a significant growth in the rural communities who have IT literacy. Aug 1 (Reuters) Sri Lanka's rupee ended flat on Wednesday near life lows, while shares fell as small investors sold telecom shares and foreign investors bought stocks in conglomerate John Keells Holdings in high turnover, traders said. The rupee ended at 111.77/111.81 per dollar compared to Tuesday's close of 111.75/111.83.
