Workers’ remittances struggle but above trade deficit

Sep 8 (FT) The CB said that workers’ remittances increased marginally in July and remained in excess of the trade deficit, thereby supporting the forex liquidity conditions under the severe balance of payments pressures. Foreign reserves at US$1.7bn in August

Sep 8 (TM) Sri Lanka’s forex reserves were down to 1,716 million US dollars in August 2022 from US$ 1,817 million a month earlier, Central Bank data showed. SL’s gross forex reserves have tended to fluctuate between 1.9 to 1.8 billion since March 2022 after running out of previously collected reserves.
