Rain causes havoc in Colombo

May 26 (Island) Heavy rains lashed Colombo from the early hours of yesterday hampering all day-to-day activities and affecting thousands of people in the city, especially during morning rush hours. Suspect arrested for stealing school PCs

Prison escapee during tsunami arrested

May 26 (CG) An inmate of the Matara prison who had escaped during the devastating 2004 tsunami, was arrested yesterday. The police said that the prisoner, who is now 26 years old, was arrested in Weligama by a police team yesterday. He is to be produced before the Matara Magistrate today, the police said.
