June 10 (SAMN) The People’s Action for Free and Fair Election (PAFFREL) issuing an interim report on the ongoing human rights situation in the country has disclosed that at least 1006 people have been killed in the country within a short span of three months. Power price hike imminent

June 10 (SO) The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will be compelled to increase the price per unit of electricity within the next few days due to the soaring oil prices and sharp drop in water levels in reservoirs, Minister of Power and Energy W. D. J. Seneviratne told the Sunday Observer. Of the requirements of electricity, 65 percent is generated by fuel. June 11 (BBC) Sri lankan authorities say they handed over eight bodies of Tamil Tigers to International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).
