MRI ready to face E-coli outbreak

June 17 (Island) The Medical Research Institute assured the public that it was prepared to face an E-coli outbreak if it occurred. Quoting the MRI, the spokesman for the Health Ministry said on Thursday (16) that Sri Lanka does not import vegetables. Samples of imported were being tested. Co-op Society for media personnel

June 17 (Island) Minister Johnston Fernando inaugurated a Cooperative Society on Tuesday for media personnel at the Ministry auditorium. He formed a committee from among the media personnel present to draw up a draft constitution. June 17 (DPA) Six people including a child were killed when a motorized tricycle crashed into a parked vehicle in central Sri Lanka early Friday, police said. The driver had apparently fallen asleep on the way back from a pilgrimage before crashing in Mwathagama, 110 kilometres east of the capital, killing himself and all his passengers.
