EP polls: TMVP ready to join Govt.

Mar 15 (SAMN) The TMVP which swept the board in Monday’s local government elections in the Batticaloa district will decide whether it should join the UPFA and contest the provincial council elections in the East under a common symbol, spokesman Azath Moulana said Friday. Mar 15 (SAMN) With the rise in the number of Leptospirosis (aka Rat Fever) cases being reported world wide, steps have been to prevent a possible outbreak in Sri Lanka, Deputy Director General Health Services Dr. P.G. Mahipala said. The number of cases reported in the country 2007 was 2,195 of which 34 died. Up to February this year 433 cases and 14 deaths had been reported.
