Japanese to invest in housing and industries

May 1 (InfoLanka) A Japanese mission in Sri Lanka is on a fact finding tour with regard to investing in housing and industries here.

They visited the Ministry of Western Region Development and had discussions with Minister M. H. Mohamed with regard to possible nvestments.

The Minister explained to them that the Ministry has also received proposals from the Chinese government for housing schemes and from Canada, for a boat service.

The team agreed to study the possibility of investing in housing schemes in the metropolitan region and the Minister emphasised the need to develop transport facilities with such developments.

Mr. Dejiro Hashimoto, Governor of Kochi Prefecture, Yasuvo Susuki, Chairman, Daiwo Machinery Company, Hiroyuki Wada, Manager, Daiwo Machinery Company, and Udaya Aulthgamage, Consultant on Port Development, Mr. Luxman Jayasekara, Director General, Urban Development Authority were among those who participated at the discussion with. M. H. Mohamed, Minister of Western Region Development.
