Among the Sri Lankan population of around 50,000 living in the state of Victoria in Australia, there are more than 20 Lankans who have devoted their time and energy in becoming professional singers. They met on the 6th of August 2006 and formed a group that became well-known among the Lankan community in Australia as the VASS.
The aim of the VASS is to improve the profile of Sri Lankan singers living in Victoria and their recognition within the community. The activities of the VASS commenced with a Music Workshops conducted by various renowned Music Directors from Sri Lanka.
